Organic Technical Reviewer needed in Santa Maria (Farming Quality Assurance Company)$25 - $28/hour (DOE)Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pmJob descriptionThe Organic Technical Reviewer collaborates closely with the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) scheme, engaging in tasks that encompass various audits like LOP, MAG, SAG, and other related evaluations. QUALIFICATIONS : - Must be able to demonstrate familiarity with agricultural and/or microbiological setting.
- Must be able to demonstrate familiarity with organic principles and regulations
- Degree in a food, agricultural and/or bioscience related discipline, such as Agriculture, Agribusiness, - Biology, Biochemistry, Food Technician or similar, or as a minimum, have successfully completed a higher education course or equivalent IOIA training
- Must have experience working the USDA NOP organic scheme.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Familiar with Microsoft Office software
- Easily adaptable to fast-paced work environment
- Have knowledge of quality assurance requirements for all assigned tasks to be performed (found in the department training program)
RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT LIMITED TO) - Responsible for incoming organic QA calls and emails that pertain to assigned technical reviews
- Responsible for creating/updating program documents.
- Assist with Organic Quality Assurance special projects
- Train new and active reviewers and inspectors on Primus Auditing Ops protocols and documentation.
- Communicate with management to approve or reject post-inspection and additional service client requests.
- Conduct Technical Reviews such as OSP, evaluation, reinstatements, additional services, special investigations (Ea. complaints) etc.
- Generate and send letters and/or notices, such as Information Requests, Notices of Non Compliance, adverse action notifications, etc.
- Track notifications sent by QA to ensure clients meet response timeframes.
- Communicate with Operations Department when operators are cleared for inspection.
- Communicate with operators directly to resolve pending/ missing information in order to complete a technical review.
- Communicate specific inspection instructions or orientation of an operator directly to inspectors, when dealing with a high risk operator. For example, part of a complaint, Sample results come back with prohibited substances 5% above the EPA tolerance, manage high risk commodities.
- Create Organic Program training material
- Assist with Organic trainings to employees and external staff members such as inspector, reviewers, and training center.
- Assist with preparing notifications to comply with adverse action and reinstatement processes. Ea., draft settlement agreements, conduct technical reviewers for reinstatements, others.
- Communicate with other certification agencies as needed to complete technical reviews. - Work with QA data software systems.
- Along with the duties noted above, employee needs to perform any other duties or responsibilities as requested by Management.
